About the artist

Claire Kirkpatrick

A self-taught artist who grew up on Stronsay, in Orkney’s North Isles, and now paints from Stromness. After a career in hairdressing and years at home with her three children, Claire paints full-time — working in canvas and paper collage, and drawn always to texture and the depth it brings.

“My work is very much influenced by my surroundings — I love anything with character, especially places that have a story to tell.”
